About SERT

Special Equestrian Riding Therapy (SERT) was founded in 1987 by a group of concerned individuals and parents of children with disabilities. They were seeking a way to improve the quality of their children's lives through the use of horses.

It is a highly respected, active therapeutic riding program, serving children and adults with disabilities.

Participants become more independent. SERT gives them the opportunity to practice skills needed to face fears, communicate feelings, and access strengths. Riders excel at adaptive games from atop SERT's gentle giants, where learning becomes fun! Through regular sessions, therapeutic horseback riding can improve:

  • Attention span
  • Speech and other communication skills
  • Self-confidence
  • Balance, coordination, and muscle strength
  • Self-control

SERT is a community-oriented, non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation
